Rickey Tripp, born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas raised in Los Angeles is an award winning choreographer and dance educator whose work bridges storytelling, athleticism, and emotional truth across theater, film, and live performance. With a career spanning more than two decades, Rickey is known for creating movement that serves narrative first, grounded in musicality, clarity, and the lived experience of the performer.

Rickey’s Broadway journey includes performing in landmark productions such as Hamilton, In the Heights (Original Broadway Cast), and Motown: The Musical. As a choreographer and associate choreographer, he has contributed to critically acclaimed and award-winning projects including Hell’s Kitchen on Broadway and the Emmy Award–winning live television event Jesus Christ Superstar Live. His work also extends to film and television, collaborating with creative teams to translate theatrical movement into cinematic language, such as "One Thousand and One," starring Teyana Taylor which won the Sundance Film Festival U.S. Grand Jury Prize 2023 and "Eileen," starring Anne Hathaway.

Other illustrious credits include, A Wonderful World: The Louis Armstrong Musical (Broadway) Chita Rivera Award Nominee for Outstanding Choreography, X: The Life and Times of Malcolm X (MET Opera), the Monsters- World Premiere (Two River Theater), Shoshana Bean at Carnegie Hall ’25, Ephraim Sykes: Blessins and Lessons (54 Below), Little Shop of Horrors (Denver Center for the Performing Arts), A Raisin in the Sun (Public Theater, NYC) Kinky Boots (Broadway at Music Circus), Rent (Signature Theatre), In the Heights (Dallas Theatre Center and Broadway at Music Circus ’19/‘25), Dreamgirls, Irma P. Equally passionate about education, Rickey is a highly respected teacher and mentor whose approach emphasizes alignment, sustainability, and individuality. He is a certified mentor in the Zena Rommett Method ™and has held a long-standing faculty position at Broadway Dance Center. Rickey regularly leads masterclasses, workshops, and residencies for universities, conservatories, and professional training programs nationwide, with the likes of Steps on Broadway, helping performers build longevity while deepening their artistic voice.

At the core of Rickey’s work is a commitment to honest expression and community, creating spaces where artists feel empowered to take risks, connect deeply, and tell meaningful stories through movement. Whether in a rehearsal studio, classroom, or onstage, Rickey continues to shape work that is both technically rigorous and profoundly human.
